MURWAI WAITANGI DAY FESTIVAL 2014
Thurs Feb 6, 10am - 7pm
Muriwai Surf Club & Community Centre grounds
Jack Butt Lane, Muriwai Beach (Auckland)
The ‘newest little festival in the best little place’ is back.
Just 35 minutes from Ponsonby Rd and next to one of NZs most spectacular surf beaches, Tiki Taane, Warren Maxwell, Moana & the Tribe, Soljah, Ria Hall, Will Crummer & the Rarotongans, Paddy Free and more will be commemorating Waitangi Day right next to the sand dunes on Thursday, Feb 6.
Bring a blanket, a sunhat, a brolly – and a towel. In between your favourite acts, nip off to the beach for a swim between the flags then grab something to eat from one of our kai-carts.
In between bands, a series of lively speakers will explore the theme ‘Every Day is Waitangi Day’ from the ‘Treaty Hot Seat’ onstage and swing the spotlight onto our relationship to Ocean. With a strict zero waste, alcohol, drug and smoke free policy, the Muriwai Waitangi Day Festival creates a safe, Whānau friendly zone to kick off 2014 on just the right note.
