Ours is a family festival with a relaxed, community feel. If you need help, look out for our marae – which is the one stop-shop for Information & First Aid. Or ask one of the Festival kaitiaki. Please ensure you know the whereabouts of your tamariki at all time.

The values that underpin this Festival existed long before the Treaty. They include manaakitanga (care, hospitality and reciprocity), whanaungatanga (celebrating connections and relationships), kaitiakitanga (principles associated with the protection of mauri), kotahitanga (unity of purpose), taha wairua, taha tinana (acknowledgment of spiritual and physical wellbeing) and rangatiratanga.

All tickets will be scanned on entry and exchanged for a wristband. All ticket-holders must wear a wristband.

Due to the size of the festival site, there are no guarantees of gate sales.

This is an alcohol-free, drug-free, smoke-free and pet-free event. In keeping with the zero waste policy, please take all your empty containers and rubbish with you when you leave.

A fully equipped first aid and emergency centre is clearly marked and onsite.

Drop off is allowed for disabled persons with limited parking available for those who have a disability pass. Please contact the Festival beforehand so we can provide support and advice. Disabled toilets are clearly marked onsite to the right rear of the parking driveway and BBQ area.

At all times you are responsible for your own personal property. Items of value, including private vehicles, should be covered under your own personal insurance. The Festival assumes no responsibility for theft, damage, and loss of any personal items or private vehicles, even in the case they are placed in the care of our representatives.

In the case of an emergency evacuation or situation, you must follow all official directives. If you feel unsafe at any time, please advise the marae. Please do not enter areas marked No Access.

Rain or shine, please come prepared. Skin can burn in as little as 15 minutes in the midday summer sun so please remember to use SPF 30+ Sunscreen 20 minutes before going out in the sun and apply every 2 hours afterwards. We recommend you wear light clothes, hats/caps and avoid spending too much time in the sun where possible. Please check this website for updates.

Please note there are NO ATM facilities on-site or in Muriwai Beach. The nearest ATM is in Waimauku, 9km from the site. Eftpos will be available for the Art Exhibition and some vendors may provide their own facility but please ensure you bring enough cash with you.

The Festival reserves the right to refuse a ticket-holder admission or to evict a ticket-holder from the event if they contravene the tikanga and policy of the Festival, particularly if the show evidence of intoxication or the potential to cause harm to themselves or others.

The Muriwai Festival is an open-air event in a beach/park setting adjacent to the beach.  Entry is at own risk.  You must stay alert at all times and assume all risks incidental to the event for which the ticket is issued. Neither the Muriwai Festival, Black Pearl Ltd or Surf Club shall be liable for any loss, injury or damages sustained entering or within the Venue whether caused by the negligence of Muriwai Festival or that owner or otherwise.

Certain areas of the Surf Club and grounds will be off limit to ticketholders.
